What's Kevin Feige's top 2025 pick? It's 'Fantastic Four'
Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, recently expressed his excitement for the upcoming Fantastic Four entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and teased future X-Men involvement. Speaking live virtually at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore on Wednesday, Feige wore a blue Fantastic Four cap and announced it as the Marvel title he is most excited about for 2025.
'Finally, bringing Marvel's First Family into the MCU...'
Feige also expressed his excitement for the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps. "Finally, [we're] bringing Marvel's First Family into the MCU," he said. He revealed that filming for this much-awaited project will wrap up next week. Feige also confirmed that these characters will immediately transition into subsequent Avengers films. Directed by Matt Shakman, Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (Mr Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby will play Susan Storm (the Invisible Woman), and Joseph Quinn will portray Johnny Storm (Human Torch).
Feige discussed 'Thunderbolts' and future X-Men involvement
Feige also spoke about the upcoming Thunderbolts film, which will premiere in May 2025, starring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and David Harbour as Red Guardian. He called it "what Marvel is all about," uniting characters from different franchises. About X-Men's integration into the MCU, Feige teased their appearance in upcoming films leading to a new era of mutants and X-Men via the Secret Wars storyline.
Marvel's collaboration with Asian animation studios
Feige also emphasized Marvel's partnership with Asian animation studios on shows such as X-Men '97 and a new Spider-Man animated series called The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He also spoke about upcoming attractions at Disney parks in Asia, such as a Spider-Man attraction at Shanghai Disneyland and an Avengers attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland. Feige also acknowledged the impact of manga and webtoons on Marvel Comics, mentioning the upcoming title Deadpool: Samurai as an example.
