No SRK or Aamir, Marathi-cinema rich in content: Sumeet Raghavan
What's the story
Actor Sumeet Raghavan, 47, says Marathi cinema is not a star-driven industry but is rich in content.
"In Hindi cinema, there are actors who can make a dead film work. But the content in Marathi cinema is rich and only that can bring audience to theatres," he said.
The actor is best known for his role in the popular cult comedy "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai".
Bollywood into Marathi
Bollywood hotshots shifting focus to Marathi cinema: Sumeet
Raghavan added that Bollywood bigwigs are shifting their focus to Marathi cinema, which is a huge thing for the regional film industry.
Citing the example of Priyanka Chopra's "Ventilator", he said, "The film did not have a star, but the content was terrific."
The actor has also acted in Bollywood films such as "U Me Aur Hum", "Firraq", Akshay Kumar-starrer "Holiday" among others.
Picky actor
Picky and choosy about my work: Sumeet
Raghavan said that although he is offered a lot of projects both on television and in films, he doesn't give his nod until he finds something interesting.
"There are a lot of factors for me to do a film. I have been very picky and choosy about my work. I have stayed away from monotony or sub-standard work" he added.
Bucket List
Madhuri's Marathi debut film 'Bucket List'
Raghavan is currently awaiting the release of his Marathi film "Bucket List", marking the debut of Madhuri in Marathi cinema.
"She is a diva and she is gorgeous. Casting Madhuri was like the trump card," he said.
The film directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay is being presented by Karan Johar. It is set to release on May 25.
