Manoj Bajpayee's 'Joram' to theatrically release in December
Manoj Bajpayee collaborated with director Devashish Makhija for the third time on a gripping survival thriller titled Joram. After a successful festival run, as per Variety, the movie is set for a global release by Zee Studios on December 1. The film premiered at the Busan International Film Festival and the story revolves around Dasru, a tribal migrant worker in Mumbai who must escape with his baby daughter Joram when his past comes back to haunt him.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Tannishtha Chatterjee co-star
Zee Studios has partnered with Makhijafilm to produce Joram, which has gained attention at various film festivals, including Sydney, Edinburgh, and Durban. The film was also screened at the Rotterdam Film Festival earlier this year. The cast features Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as a tired Mumbai cop, Smita Tambe as a menacing tribal lawmaker, and special appearances by Tannishtha Chatterjee and Rajshri Deshpande. Zee Studios has enjoyed a remarkable 2023, with successful films like Kennedy, Aatmapamphlet, Brown, and Gadar 2.
Box office: 'Joram' to compete against biggies
Earlier, Makhija and Bajpayee had worked on a short film Taandav in 2016 and a feature film Bhonsle. While speaking to Variety, Makhija shared his enthusiasm for the worldwide release of Joram, saying it validates the immense faith and perseverance Zee Studios has demonstrated in the project. The film will be pitted against Sam Bahadur and Animal.
