'Bhaiyya Ji': Manoj Bajpayee discusses venturing into mass hero genre
Manoj Bajpayee's latest film, Bhaiyya Ji, is set to hit the screens on Friday, marking his debut in the mass hero genre. While speaking to Times Now, the actor expressed a blend of anticipation and nervousness ahead of the film's release. "I have never done anything like this before," confessed Bajpayee. The movie has been helmed by Apoorv Singh Karki, who earlier directed The Family Man actor in Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
Bajpayee on how film is different from 'Shool'
Speaking about his role, Bajpayee said, "Of course I've played a rural hero in Ram Gopal Varma's Shool. But that was in the realistic space. Bhaiyya Ji is my first out-and-out masala hero-giri film. This is the kind of massy hero that gets the ceetees and taalis (whistles and claps)." The film is Bajpayee's third release of 2024 after the series Killer Soup and the film Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout.
Bajpayee's active promotion and positive audience response
Bajpayee has been vigorously promoting Bhaiyya Ji across various cities. "I have been promoting the film from city to city as we used to before (COVID-19). The response is very encouraging," he shared, expressing optimism that the promotional crowds will convert into cinema audiences. His visit to Patna was particularly noted by Roshan Singh, a film exhibitor from Bihar, who praised him as "the real Bihari Babu after Shatrughan Sinha."
Director compared the fights to those performed by Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi
Praising the critically acclaimed actor, Singh Karki said, "The way Manoj has conducted himself on screen he is in full-on purdah-phaad mode. The fights are staged in the Rajinikanth/Chiranjeevi style. Manoj makes them look completely believable. He will have action fans screaming in their seats." The revenge-based drama also stars Zoya Hussain, Suvinder Vicky, Vipin Sharma, and Jatin Goswami.
