Mohan Babu's son Manchu arrested in family feud case: Report
What's the story
Manchu Manoj (41), son of veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu, has been arrested by the Tirupati Police in a family dispute.
Per reports, the arrest was made from his Tirupati residence and he was taken to Bhakarapet Police Station. The action comes after his father filed a complaint, allegedly over a family feud.
This development comes as the investigation into the matter has been going on for a while now.
Family conflict
Background of the Manchu family feud
The family feud of Babu and his youngest son, Manoj, has been making headlines since last year. The father had accused Manoj and his wife, Mounika, of forcibly occupying his Jalpally, Hyderabad home.
Manoj, in turn, alleged unidentified persons had trespassed into his house and assaulted him.
The Manchu family's internal feud reportedly stems from differences over the division of their massive business and property assets.
Business tension
Manchu family's business disputes and disapproval of marriage
The main bone of contention behind the family feud is said to be the division of their enormous business and property assets, including educational institutions like Mohan Babu University and the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust.
While Vishnu—Manoj's elder brother—has been given key positions in these institutions, Manoj reportedly feels left out.
The family also reportedly disapproved of Manoj's marriage to Mounika, deepening the rift in the famous Telugu film dynasty.
Solo venture
Manoj's independent venture and previous controversy
In 2019, Manoj launched his own production company, MM Arts, sans his father's support. His debut project, Aham Brahmasmi, co-produced with his mother Nirmala Devi, is still underway.
This came after Vishnu took over 24 Frames Factory and their sister Lakshmi retained rights to Manchu Entertainment, with Manoj getting nothing.
In March 2023, Manoj stirred controversy by posting a video accusing Vishnu of assaulting his staff members at his house, too.
