Did you catch Anirudh's cameo in Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyan' song
The first song from the highly-anticipated Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan, titled Manasilaayo, was unveiled on Monday. The track, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has already piqued fans' curiosity following the release of its teaser on Sunday. The film, directed by TJ Gnanavel, marks Rajinikanth's 170th cinematic outing and is set to hit the big screens on October 10. Here are more details about the song.
'Manasilaayo' features Rajinikanth, Anirudh, and Manju Warrier
Manasilaayo showcases Rajinikanth and the composer in a stylish look. The former is seen sporting a black suit and dark sunglasses, while the latter is dressed in a traditional veshti. Actor Manju Warrier also appears in the song, donning a red and gold saree. The track is sung by Yugendran Vasudevan and Deepthi Suresh, with lyrics penned by Vishnu Edavan and Super Subu.
Late singer Malaysia Vasudevan's voice recreated using AI
A unique aspect of Manasilaayo is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate the voice of the late Malaysia Vasudevan, a renowned Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor. The film's producers shared this news on Saturday, stating, "Bringing back the legendary MALAYSIA VASUDEVAN's voice for SUPERSTAR after 27 years!" Vasudevan, who passed away in 2011 in Chennai, last collaborated with Rajinikanth for 1987's Oor Kavalan.
'Vettaiyan' boasts a star-studded cast
Vettaiyan, apart from Rajinikanth and Warrier, features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, GM Sundar, Abirami, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak, and Rakshan. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on October 10 to coincide with the Dasara festival. The plot of Vettaiyan remains under wraps but is rumored to revolve around a retired police officer combating corruption.
Rajinikanth to appear in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Coolie'
In addition to Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will also be seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film Coolie. The movie features a star-studded cast including Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Upendra. Meanwhile, the release of Siva's Suriya and Bobby Deol-starrer Kanguva has been postponed to avoid clashing with Vettaiyan. The new release date for Kanguva is yet to be announced.
