Mamta Kulkarni recalls spat with Ameesha Patel over deer meat
What's the story
Inimitable Bollywood star of the 1990s, Mamta Kulkarni, recently dug up her past controversies in a television interview.
One of them was her fight with fellow actor Ameesha Patel over "deer meat" at an event. The fight apparently started over the quality of meat served at this gathering.
When asked about it by the show's host, Kulkarni confirmed it and revealed what happened back then.
Incident details
'I took the non-vegetarian dish because...'
Kulkarni recalled, "We were on location for an advertisement shoot over four to five days. Our schedule involved filming during the day and dining in the evening. Dinner was a buffet, which offered only one non-vegetarian option, and even that was unlabelled."
"I took the non-vegetarian dish because it was the only one. But when I started chewing, my teeth couldn't bite through it."
The argument
'I thought, who is she to interrupt?'
Continuing her narration, Kulkarni said when she asked about the meat's quality from a certain Mr. Bajaj, he told her it was deer meat.
This prompted Kulkarni to ask for labels on the dishes next time.
However, Patel, who was present at the scene, reportedly commented on Kulkarni's reaction by saying: "These heroines have so many tantrums."
To this, Kulkarni pondered: "I thought, who is she to interrupt? I'm not even talking to her."
The escalation
Kulkarni denied making comments about status, money
The host further probed Kulkarni about the incident, asking if she had questioned Patel's status by saying, "Teri Aukaat Kya Hai? (What is your status?) My fee is ₹15 lakh and yours is ₹1 lakh?"
To this, Kulkarni clarified that it was her secretary who made the comment and not her.
Reports suggest the argument escalated to such an extent that Kulkarni's secretary allegedly threatened Patel physically, leading to Patel's mother intervening to protect her daughter.
Spiritual path
Kulkarni's spiritual journey and past controversies
Apart from her acting career, Kulkarni has been mired in controversies like alleged links with Dawood Ibrahim and reported involvement in drug-related issues.
She lived a life of penance and celibacy in a Dubai apartment for 23 years before resurfacing during the Maha Kumbh.
Although she never aspired to become Mahamandleshwar, she reportedly took the title under pressure from Acharya Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi of Kinnar Akhara but was ousted after seven days due to protests from several Babas.
