Mammootty starts shooting for his Telugu comeback vehicle, 'Agent'
Mammootty has started shooting for Agent, makers confirmed on Monday. Along with this update, they dropped his first look where we see the Mollywood megastar sporting an Army uniform and a cap. The image had the text, "The Devil Ruthless Saviour (sic)," written on it, indicating that Mammootty might play the main antagonist. Agent marks his return to Telugu cinema after three years.
What did the announcement say?
On Twitter, the director of Agent Surender Reddy and others wrote, "A stalwart of Indian cinema who paved his own path with discipline and dedication. Megastar Mammootty joins the shoot of #AGENT. Can't wait to witness the magic on sets (sic)." Touted to be a spy thriller, the Telugu film has Akhil Akkineni in the lead and Vakkantham Vamsi onboard as its screenplay writer.

Reports suggest its shooting is currently taking place in Hyderabad. Produced by AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema, Agent has debutante Sakshi Vaidya as its leading lady. As far as the technical crew is concerned, Rasool Ellore Reddy is on board the project as the cinematographer, while Naveen Nooli takes care of the editing. It has signed "Hiphop Tamizha" Adhi as the music composer.

Agent marks the first collaboration between Akkineni and Mammootty. Makers had also approached the likes of Malayalam star Mohanlal and Kannada actor Upendra before finalizing Mammootty for the villain's role. The thriller is Akkineni's fifth full-fledged feature film and Mammootty's comeback vehicle to Telugu cinema. His last Telugu film was the 2019 biopic, Yatra, on the life of former AP CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
