Malayalam actor Meghanathan (60) dies due to lung-related ailments
Meghanathan, a popular Malayalam film and television actor, died on Thursday, aged 60. He was reportedly suffering from complications of a lung-related illness and was undergoing treatment for respiratory issues at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Born in Thiruvananthapuram, he was the third child of acclaimed Malayalam actor Balan K Nair and Sarada Nair. His funeral will be held in Shoranur later today.
His acting career spanned over 3 decades
Meghanathan began his acting career with the 1983 Malayalam film Asthram, sharing screen space with industry stalwarts Mohanlal and Mammootty. This was the start of a successful career spanning over 30 years, during which he displayed his versatility in over 50 Malayalam films. Despite having a Diploma in Automobile Engineering from Coimbatore, Meghanathan followed his father's footsteps into acting.

Some of his memorable films are Panchagni, Chamayam, Rajadhani, Bhoomigeetham, Cover Story, Crime File, Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji etc. In the last few years, he was spotted in Kooman, Johny Johny Yes Appa, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. He is survived by his wife Susmitha and daughter Parvathi, who live in Shoranur. May he rest in peace.
