Three years in making, Vikram-led 'Cobra' finally finishes shooting schedule
'Chiyaan' Vikram's Cobra team is finally done with its shooting schedule after three long years since it hit the floors. The makers celebrated this occasion by cutting a huge cake, as per several photos shared by the film's director R Ajay Gnanamuthu. Reports suggested that the film will feature Vikram as a mathematical genius named Madhiazhagan "Cobra." No release date has been announced yet.
Why does this story matter?
Cobra was launched in 2019, way before the COVID-19 pandemic engulfed the world. The team's Russia schedule, which was already underway, had to be canceled when the first wave arrived. After that, Vikram got busy with his other movies, Ponniyin Selvan and Mahaan, so the filming couldn't be finished then. After he joined the sets in November last year, the shooting gained pace again.
What did Gnanamuthu write in his post?
Announcing the wrap, Gnanamuthu wrote, "IT'S A WRAP!! Close to 3 years of filming comes to an end!! My sincere thanks to #ChiyaanVikram and my entire team who trusted me, sailed through all the struggles and difficult times with me and believed in the vision of #Cobra! Forever indebted to each one of u! (sic)." Interestingly, Cobra marks former cricketer Irfan Pathan's film debut.

'Cobra' marks Gnanamuthu's third directorial venture
Last year in January, makers had released a teaser which suggested that Vikram will sport more than 20 looks in the film. This film will be released in many languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Cobra marks the third directorial outing of Gnanamuthu, the first two being Demonte Colony (2015) and Imaikkaa Nodigal (2018), both of which received positive reviews from fans and critics.
