SRK targets KJo's over-hosting; jokingly suggests, 'make films too'
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Karan Johar are set to host the 24th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2024. At a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, Khan teased Johar about his frequent hosting gigs, urging him to focus on filmmaking as well. The two have previously collaborated on several successful projects, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
'How much will you host?': SRK to Johar
At the press conference, Khan joked about Johar's frequent hosting gigs, saying, "Karan told me he won't be rehearsing for hosting, he'll do it on Zoom." "He said, 'Bhai main Zoom pe kar lunga...Main toh itna hosting karta hu na.' Chat show bhi host karta hai, film show bhi host karta hai...picture bhi toh bana mere bhai tu, ('Bro, I'll do it on Zoom...I host so much, you know.' He even hosts chatshows and film-shows. Please make a film also..."
Johar says he should be making more movies
Khan added, "Kitna host karega tu? (How much will you host?)" To this, Johar responded, "Siddhant Chaturvedi said the same thing, and I was like this is sounding so wrong on all levels for a filmmaker. I should be making more movies. That is what I should be doing," Johar added. Notably, Johar's last directorial venture was the 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Khan, Johar excited to host IIFA 2024
In a statement, Khan expressed his excitement about hosting the 24th edition of the IIFA Festival. "I look forward to bringing the energy, passion, and grandeur of IIFA to life," he said. Johar also shared his thoughts, saying, "For more than two decades, IIFA has been a defining part of my journey." He added that his father was a significant member of IIFA's advisory board. IIFA Awards is set to take place between September 27 and 29 in Abu Dhabi.
