'Maidaan' box office: Ajay Devgn's sports drama earns ₹42.75cr
The sports drama Maidaan, starring Bollywood heavyweight Ajay Devgn, saw a significant uptick in box office earnings on its third Sunday. Despite facing stiff competition from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the film managed to gross ₹1.9cr on its 18th day. This surge has propelled the total box office collection of Maidaan to ₹42.75cr. Despite the surge, the collections remain below expectations.
'Maidaan' has been a mixed-bag critically
Maidaan, which narrates the life of Indian football manager and coach Syed Abdul Rahim, had a mixed reception upon its release. The varied opinions from audiences and critics led to a somewhat tepid response and a dip in collections after the first weekend. However, the film's earnings have since fluctuated, peaking at ₹6.4cr on Day 4 and hitting a low of ₹0.7cr on Day 12. It is Devgn's second release of 2024 after Shaitaan.
'Maidaan's supporting cast and Devgn's next releases
Maidaan, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, features a star-studded cast including Priya Mani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh in key roles. The film was produced by Boney Kapoor. The film met with several delays in its release due to COVID-19 and other reasons and finally saw the light of the day on Eid. Later this year, Devgn is scheduled to appear in Raid 2, Singham Again, and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha.
