'Maidaan' box office collection: Ajay Devgn's sports drama struggles
The sports biographical drama, Maidaan, featuring Ajay Devgn and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, has experienced a slow second week at the box office. Despite its acclaimed portrayal of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, the film struggled to gain traction. On its 12th day, it earned a mere ₹80 lakh across all languages. This sluggish performance brought the total haul of the film to ₹36.3 crore on its second Monday since release.
'Maidaan' had a slow start at the box office
Released on April 11, Maidaan faced tough competition from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The film had a slow start, earning a little over ₹35 crore India nett in its first 11 days. Despite its talented cast including Priya Mani, Gajraj Rao, Amartya Ray, Rudranil Ghosh, and Baharul Islam, among others, it showed signs of fatigue with extremely slow growth in the second week.
'Maidaan' registered 8.42% occupancy on Monday
On Monday, April 22, Maidaan registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 8.42% with morning shows seeing a footfall of 5.31%. In terms of regional performances, Mumbai and Delhi National Capital Region recorded a footfall of 9.25% and 8.25% respectively. Pune had a slightly higher occupancy at 10% while Kolkata saw the highest at 10.50%.
