Box office: 'Maidaan' collects nearly ₹36 crore in 11 days
After repeated delays, Ajay Devgn's sports biopic Maidaan was released on Eid this month. Despite Devgn's popularity, the movie's subject, and positive critical reviews, the film has been grasping at the straws at the box office. After 11 days of its release, it has finally neared the ₹36 crore benchmark. The film needs to build momentum considering its substantial budget of ₹250 crore.
Looking at the film in numbers
Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan collected an estimated ₹32.45 crore India net during its first 10 days at the box office. On the 11th day, preliminary estimates suggest that the film raked in approximately ₹3.25 crore India nett across all languages. This brings the total box office collection of Devgn's sports drama to ₹35.7 crore. The film stars Devgn as former Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who led India to unprecedented glory in the game.
'Maidaan' records varied occupancy rates across India
The occupancy report for Maidaan shows an overall Hindi occupancy of 24.33% on Sunday. Morning shows recorded a footfall of 13.81%, while afternoon and evening shows saw occupancies of 29.84% and 34.68% respectively. Night shows reported a lower occupancy rate at 19%. The film experienced varied footfalls across different regions in India, with the highest being in Chennai at an impressive 83%.

Maidaan is Devgn's second big-screen appearance this year, following his successful film Shaitaan, directed by Vikas Bahl. The film also stars Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao in supporting roles, while Devgn remains at the movie's front and center. It is a joint production venture by Fresh Lime Films, Bayview Projects, and Zee Studios. Devgn will next be seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Singham Again, and Raid 2.
