Madhuri Dixit Nene in negotiations for serial killer role: Report
Acclaimed actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, who debuted in the digital space with 2022's web series The Fame Game, is reportedly discussing a role as a serial killer in an upcoming OTT psychological thriller. According to Mid-Day, the project will be titled Mrs Deshpande and will be directed by Nagesh Kukunoor (Lakshmi). The plot of Mrs Deshpande revolves around the police hiring a serial killer to understand and capture another using similar methods.
Kukunoor returns to direct 'Mrs Deshpande'
Kukunoor, the director of Mrs Deshpande, is making a comeback to digital entertainment after a two-year hiatus. His last project was a segment in the 2022 anthology Modern Love Hyderabad. Prior to that, he directed the series City of Dreams. If everything proceeds as planned, Kukunoor will commence filming for Mrs Deshpande following the monsoon season.
'Mrs Deshpande' casting underway, Dixit Nene eyed for lead
The casting process for Mrs Deshpande is currently in progress with the team reportedly excited about presenting Dixit Nene in a dark role. The show is said to be a remake of a French series. As of press time, neither Kukunoor nor Dixit Nene's team had responded to Mid-Day's requests for comment on the matter. This potential casting would mark a shift from her previous role as a superstar orchestrating her own disappearance in The Fame Game.
