Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt reunite for 'Kalank'; shoot first scene
Karan Johar's upcoming production 'Kalank' has been making the headlines since its inception not just because of its incredible cast, but also because of Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt's past. The stars, whose rumored love affair was once widely dissected, are working together after a hiatus of 21 years in 'Kalank'. In fact, the veteran actors have also begun shooting for the movie.
Reports about Madhuri-Sanjay's scenes
Ever since the cast of 'Kalank' was announced, there were reports that Madhuri and Sanjay will not be sharing the screen space. The reports surfaced due to actors' ugly past. Sanjay and Madhuri were said to be dating in 90s and were quite serious about their relationship. However, post Dutt's imprisonment, their relationship went sour and they apparently chose different paths.
But, Sanjay-Madhuri have now kicked off shooting
But contrary to the reports, the ex-lovers did shoot together for the movie 'Kalank'. Reportedly, the shooting of Madhuri-Sanjay's scenes went off smoothly without any awkwardness. "Sanjay and Madhuri shot some dramatic sequences together over three days with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt," a source reported. They have given several hits together like 'Thanedar', Saajan', 'Khalnayak' and were last seen in 1997 release 'Mahaanta'.
Madhuri has replaced Sridevi in 'Kalank'
Notably, Madhuri was not the first choice for her role in 'Kalank'. It was veteran actress Sridevi who was roped in for the same. But post Sridevi's unfortunate demise in February this year, Madhuri was taken on board for the movie. Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor had revealed that 'Kalank' was quite close to Sridevi's heart and even thanked Madhuri for replacing the late actress.

Apart from Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, 'Kalank' will also feature Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur. Helmed by Abhishek Varman, this will be Varun-Alia's fourth collaboration with Karan Johar who had also launched them in the industry. 'Kalank' is scheduled to release on April 19 next year.
