After Filmfare snub, lyricist Manoj Muntashir boycotts award shows
After being snubbed at the Filmfare Awards 2020, lyricist Manoj Muntashir has said that he would not attend any award shows hereafter. Notably, Manoj, who penned Teri Mitti for Akshay Kumar-starrer film Kesari (2019), lost the Best Lyrics award to rapper Divine (Vivian Fernandes) and Ankur Tewari, who were nominated for Apna Time Aayega (Gully Boy). On Saturday night, when the awards were being announced, Manoj took to Twitter to share his disappointment at losing the award, saying that he would never be able to write better lines than he wrote for Teri Mitti. "I officially announce - I won't attend any award show till I breathe my last," he wrote in a statement.

Irshad Kamil, Mithoon, Tanishk Bagchi were also among nominees
Manoj was nominated in the "Best Lyrics" category alongside Amitabh Bhattacharya (nominated for Kalank Nahi Ishq; Kalank), Irshad Kamil (Bekhayali; Kabir Singh), Mithoon (Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage; Kabir Singh), and Tanishk Bagchi (Ve Maahi, Kesari). For the unversed, Manoj has previously penned songs like Galliyan (Ek Villain), Tere Sang Yaara (Rustom), and Kaun Tujhe (M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story).
Filmfare Awards were held on Saturday in Guwahati
Meanwhile, the 65th Filmfare Awards 2020 were presented on Saturday night in Guwahati, Assam. Filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Vicky Kaushal hosted the star-studded ceremony. Zoya Akhtar's much-acclaimed movie Gully Boy has emerged as the biggest winner at the awards ceremony, taking home 13 awards. It won in the Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Movie, and Best Director categories, among others.
