Kanika Kapoor discharged from hospital after testing negative for COVID-19
Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor (41) has been discharged from a Lucknow hospital. The singer was allowed to leave for home on Monday after her latest test for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) came out as negative. Her previous COVID-19 test on Saturday was also negative. Kanika had been diagnosed with the deadly virus last month after she traveled internationally. Here are more details.
Previously, Kanika tested positive for COVID-19 five times
Earlier, after five of her COVID-19 tests came out as positive, there were speculations that Kanika's health is deteriorating. However, the singer and her doctors dismissed these rumors. In an Instagram post, the singer said she was well. "Thank you for your concern but I am not in the ICU. I am fine. Waiting to go home to my kids and family," she wrote.
Kanika was diagnosed with coronavirus on March 20
Kanika is the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for the virus. The singer was diagnosed with the coronavirus on March 20. She had traveled back to Mumbai from the UK on March 9 and went to Lucknow and Kanpur after that. She was heavily slammed for hiding her travel history and even attending parties and events upon her return to India.
Kanika has been booked under three IPC sections
Kanika may have been discharged but her troubles aren't over. The Baby Doll singer faces legal action for her "negligent and malignant acts likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life". She has been booked under IPC sections 269, 270, and 188. Meanwhile, the coronavirus pandemic has infected over 4,000 in India, and more than 100 people have lost their lives.
