'Emily in Paris' actor Lucien Laviscount joins horror-thriller film 'Borderline'
Production has officially commenced on the horror-thriller film Borderline, with shooting locations set in the UK and Malta. The cast boasts of notable actors including Lucien Laviscount, recognized for his role in Emily In Paris, Laura Marano from The Royal Treatment, and Middle Eastern star Cynthia Khalifeh of 8 Days. Jason Flemyng, known for his performance in A Violent Man, has also joined the ensemble. Casting was announced at the Cannes Film Festival's market.
Plot details and character roles revealed
In Borderline, Khalifeh plays Zena, a young woman who visits the Borderline pub for a date with Jack, whom she met on a dating app. After being stood up, Zena is persuaded to have a drink with Paul, portrayed by Laviscount. Unbeknownst to her, Paul's charming facade conceals his true identity as a serial killer who ensnares his victims within the lawless confines of the Borderline pub.
'Borderline' marks start of new horror franchise: Creators
Borderline is directed by Jane Gull, a nominee for the British Independent Film Awards for My Feral Heart. The script is crafted by Elizabeth Morris, known for her work on Above the Below. Producer Martin Owen, also associated with Above the Below, along with actor-producer Evan Ross and Khalifeh are producing the film. Owen anticipates that "Borderline is set to be a genre-defining horror movie," marking the "beginning of a new horror franchise."

Owen expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating that they are exploring "the dark side of dating apps" in a unique and terrifying way. Ross echoed Owen's sentiments, expressing delight at bringing this unique film to the screen. He emphasized, "At the core of the film is a really great idea that explores the darkest possibilities of modern dating, brought to life by this amazing cast."
Meanwhile, Laviscount to reprise role in 'Emily In Paris'
Rising to fame with his portrayal of Alfie, Lily Collins's love interest in the Netflix series Emily In Paris, Laviscount made his debut in the second season as an English banker in Emily's French class. Notably, the show is set to make a return for its fourth season, as announced by Collins: "Season four comes out this August 15 for part one. Part two drops on September 12, you're welcome."
