Is Aamir making cameo in son Junaid's 'Loveyapa'? Director hints
What's the story
The much-awaited Bollywood film Loveyapa, which marks the silver screen debuts of Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, will be released on Friday (February 7).
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Advait Chandan revealed that superstar Aamir Khan will be making a cameo appearance in his son's debut film.
"He does. He's there for two shots. When you watch the film, you'll definitely see him," Chandan confirmed.
Casting concerns
Chandan's initial doubts about casting Khan and Kapoor
Further, the director also confessed to having initial reservations about casting Khan and Kapoor.
He told Bollywood Hungama, "My problem was that I was not sure of Junaid and Khushi's casting. I had never met Khushi before and I was unsure if Junaid would be the right fit for the role."
But after spending time with them through rehearsals and readings, he gained confidence in their abilities.
On-set dynamics
Chandan's experience working with Khan and Kapoor
Chandan also praised Khan and Kapoor for their professionalism on set, saying they were punctual and well-prepared.
He pointed out that Khan had to work hard to get into the skin of his character, saying, "Junaid is very different from his character Gucci. He had to work very hard to find the Gaurav inside him."
Chandan was happy with their performances, saying there could have been no better choices for the roles of Gaurav and Baani.
Box office clash
Chandan's take on 'Loveyapa' clashing with 'Badass Ravi Kumar'
Chandan also spoke about the box office clash between Loveyapa and Himesh Reshammiya's Badass Ravi Kumar.
He said he was excited about the competition, saying, "Maza aayega yaar! At the end of the day, people should head to the cinemas."
The film—a remake of the 2022 Tamil film Love Today—revolves around Gaurav (Khan) and Baani (Kapoor), whose relationship faces a major test when Baani's father (Ashutosh Rana) challenges them to swap phones.
