Tabrez Noorani's 'Love-Sonia' to open lndian Film Festival of Melbourne
Director Tabrez Noorani's "Love Sonia" will be the opening film at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). Inspired by true events, "Love Sonia" is the shocking story of a young Indian village girl whose life is tumultuously changed when she gets entrapped in global sex trade while trying to save her sister. IFFM is scheduled to happen in Melbourne from August 10-22. Here's more.

"We are delighted to be able to open Indian Film Festival of Melbourne with our film and are honored to share our film down under and especially in the culturally diverse city of Melbourne," Noorani said. "Both Tabrez and I grew up in families with very strong women. 'Love Sonia' is a film honoring one very strong woman's challenging journey," producer David Womark said.

The film was shot in Jaipur, Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles and will be released in India this September. Co-producer Amar Butala said he's happy that after receiving a thunderous response at London Indian Film Festival (LIFF), the film is traveling to Australia. The film stars Mrinal Thakur, Freida Pinto, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Richa Chadha, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Sai Tamhankar, etc.
