'Looop Lapeta': Taapsee to star in 'Run Lola Run' remake
With a flurry of films already in her kitty, Taapsee Pannu has announced her next movie, a Hindi adaptation of celebrated German classic Run Lola Run (1998). The thriller-comedy movie, titled Looop Lapeta, stars Tahir Raj Bhasin opposite Taapsee. It will be their first onscreen collaboration. Directed by Inside Edge director Aakash Bhatia, Looop Lapeta is set to release on January 29, 2021.

A co-production of Sony Pictures Films India and Ellipsis Entertainment, the movie is set to go on floors in Goa this year. Announcing the movie, Taapsee wrote on her Instagram account, "Right, so here's yet another announcement from my stable. I'm on a roll. Or shall I say in a loop? Stoked to announce crazy thriller-comedy Looop Lapeta."

'Run Lola Run' received critical acclaim and several accolades
For the unversed, Run Lola Run is an award-winning 1998 German thriller film, written and directed by Tom Tykwer. Starring Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtreu, the movie follows the story of a woman, desperate to obtain 100,000 Deutsche Mark (German currency) within a span of twenty minutes, to save her boyfriend's life. The movie received global critical acclaim and several international accolades.

In a recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, Taapsee expressed her excitement about the new project, saying, "I love how an iconic film like Run Lola Run has been adapted for the Indian milieu without losing its edge." "It's been laced with amazingly cheeky straight-faced humour. It's cool in the truest sense of the word...I can't wait to get started," she added.
Taapsee-starrer 'Thappad' to release this month
Notably, Taapsee recently won a Filmfare award for her performance in 2019 film Saand Ki Aankh. Further, the actress is currently busy promoting her upcoming movie Thappad, a modern-day take on domestic violence. It is set to hit the theaters on February 28. That apart, she will also be seen in movies like Haseen Dillruba and Shabaash Mithu, a biopic on cricketer Mithali Raj.
