'Tiger 3': 5 interesting facts about the espionage action thriller
On Friday, Yash Raj Films announced the release date of Tiger 3. Starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and possibly Emraan Hashmi as the main antagonist, the espionage action thriller is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023, targeting the occasion of Eid, Khan's go-to date for releasing his big-budget ventures. Before it releases, here are five interesting points about the film.
Khan's 12th Eid release
As mentioned before, Eid is Khan's favorite time to take his films out. He started this trend with Wanted, a 2009 release, and it soon became an almost annual tradition for him. His following Eid releases after Wanted are: Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Sultan (2016), Tubelight (2017), Race 3 (2018), Bharat (2019), and Radhe (2021).
First full-length film in 6 years that's not Khan's production
Khan established his production house, Salman Khan Films, in 2011. And since then, he has been producing most of his movies. But, Tiger 3 is the first full-fledged film in six years that he is not financially involved with. Tiger Zinda Hai, the second installment of the Tiger franchise, was the last film he didn't produce. Tiger 3 is being produced by Aditya Chopra.
Kaif's second film to release after her wedding
Kaif is set to reprise her role as Zoya in Tiger 3. We also saw her practicing knife fighting in the announcement video dropped on Friday. So, this makes Tiger 3 her second release after her wedding to fellow actor Vicky Kaushal that was held in December last year. Phone Bhoot is the first one, which will hit cinema halls on July 15, 2022.
Marks first collaboration of Khan and Kaif with Hashmi
Despite being the film industry for long, Khan and Kaif have never collaborated with Hashmi for any film. Tiger 3 would mark their first film together with Hashmi. If reports are to be believed, Hashmi will play a character named Jamal Fateh Mir aka Lion, a "street smart, badass, suave" ISI agent. However, his involvement in Tiger 3 has not been officially confirmed.
Is the fifth film in YRF Spy Universe
Like Rohit Shetty has developed his copverse with Singham, its sequel, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi, Yash Raj Films has established a YRF Spy Universe. And till now, they have churned out three spy thrillers: Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War (2019). Shah Rukh Khan-led Pathaan (2023) is the fourth and Tiger 3 is the fifth entry to this spyverse.
