5 shows to watch if you liked 'Schitt's Creek'
The beautifully produced Eugene and Dan Levy's creation, Schitt's Creek, is a clear winner of many hearts. The show is considered the ultimate celebration of love and is also known for its satire. The comedy-drama ended its TV run back in 2020 and is currently streaming on Netflix. If you loved Schitt's Creek, you can give these five endearing shows a try as well.
'Ted Lasso'
Ted Lasso is a feel-good show that leaves a satisfying aftertaste. This is the main reason why those who love Schitt's Creek watch Ted Lasso, too, even though the core stories of both shows are different. Starring Jason Sudeikis in the titular role, Ted Lasso originally premiered in 2020 on Apple TV+. It is currently streaming on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, and Jio Cinema.
'Seinfeld'
Seinfeld is the second entry on this list. The sitcom created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld is often described as "a show about nothing," as most of its episodes are disconnected from one another and deal with mundane, regular things in life with laughter and sarcasm. If not for anything else, watch Seinfeld for the laughs. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
'Arrested Development'
When it comes to thematic similarity, Arrested Development qualifies as the obvious choice. In Schitt's Creek, an uber-rich family loses it all and in the process understands the importance of family and values, and this is identical to what Arrested Development is about. Created by Mitchell Hurwitz, the show focuses on the Bluths and their dysfunctional family. Disney+ Hotstar is streaming the show currently.
'Kim's Convenience'
Kim's Convenience is our fourth recommendation. The Canadian sitcom that brought Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) into the limelight narrates the story of a family running a Toronto-based convenience store. Their experience with different kinds of patrons is what it is all about. Kim's Convenience is based on a 2011 play by the same name. Catch it on Netflix.
'Workin' Moms'
Another solid Canadian sitcom, Workin' Moms, rounds up our (not so exhaustive) list. Starring and created, written, and directed by Catherine Reitman, it is a brutal and honest take on the difficult lives of mothers who also have to manage work alongside household activities. Moira's (Catherine O'Hara) weak parenting in Schitt's Creek doesn't feel that bad compared to Workin' Moms, currently streaming on Netflix.
