#ComicBytes: Valhalla, He's coming (Thor facts for fans!)
The immortal God, Thor is a founding member of Marvel's best-known superhero lineup, Avengers. Created in 1962, he has appeared in every Avengers issue and swung his magical hammer, Mjolnir to defeat several formidable opponents. He is loved (and feared) across the universe and has one of the best character arcs in the history of comics. Here are some relatively unknown facts about Thor.
The legendary God was once a frog
As you might have guessed, it was Loki. It is always him when something bizarre happens. This one time, Loki transformed Thor into a frog but his memories and some abilities remained intact. Things got weirder when Thor actually participated in a full-scale war between rats and frogs in New York. Luckily he got his hammer and his friend Volstagg changed him back.
Thor has been friends with none other than Hitler
Thor once became friends with Hitler and supported the Nazis in a mission to kill Joseph Stalin. You might wonder what kind of manipulation Hitler used to convince him. Turns out, if you ask the Norse God something nicely, he will certainly be at your service. Towards the end, he leaves Hitler but not before killing Stalin, who is actually a disguised Union Jack.
He has an insane amount of bodyweight
Thor is definitely heavier than most Marvel characters. He is bulky. And he is constantly carrying a hammer. His and Mjolnir's combined weight is around 290kgs. But do you know how much does the hammer weigh? It is made of the fictional material Uru and weighs around 19kgs. This insane weight makes the muscular god as heavy as WWE's Big Show.
His greatest weapon can be his greatest weakness
Most of Thor's powers reside in his hammer, Mjolnir. He can fly, travel across planets, control lightning, and even has a super powerful 'God Blast' that can, well, blast Gods. But here's the catch: he doesn't actually fly; his hammer takes him away. Similarly, his other powers also come from the hammer. If the hammer were to be destroyed, Thor would be rendered weak.
Has unlimited power, can speak almost all languages
If he ever unleashes the true extent of his powers, Thor will become too powerful to control. This was also evident in one issue where he became insane and could only be stopped by the combined effort of Silver Surfer and Thanos. He also has the power of All-Tongue that allows him to speak and understand nearly all the languages in the universe.
