Box office: Vijay's 'Leo' joins Rs. 200cr club in India
Kollywood director Lokesh Kanagaraj's latest film, Leo, starring superstar Vijay and Sanjay Dutt, has set the box office on fire. After a stunning debut on Thursday (October 19), making nearly Rs. 65 crore in India, the film has been witnessing impressive domestic and worldwide collections. Enjoying a dream run in cinema halls, Leo has now joined the Rs. 200 crore club in the country.

The highly-anticipated film is part of Kanagaraj's Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). It is the third installment in the LCU after Kanagaraj's two previous releases: the 2019 film Kaithi and the 2022 release Vikram, featuring Karthi and Kamal Haasan in the lead, respectively. Apart from connecting the three films, Leo has special cameo roles, too, including that of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.
'Leo' collected Rs. 35 crore on Monday in India
The film, on Monday, crossed the Rs. 200cr mark in India. Leo's first-day domestic collections stood at Rs. 64.8 crore, followed by Rs. 35.25 crore, Rs. 39.80 crore, and Rs. 41.55 crore until Sunday. Per Sacnilk, the movie collected Rs. 35 crore (early estimates) on Monday, taking its domestic total to Rs. 216.4 crore. Leo's worldwide collection has already crossed Rs. 400 crore (gross).
Tamil Nadu contributed to majority of collections
As per data provided by Sacnilk, the majority of the film's collections on Monday came from Tamil Nadu, where it grossed Rs. 26 crore (early estimates). Kerala stood second with a gross of Rs. 7 crore (approximately), followed by Karnataka at Rs. 3 crore, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at Rs. 2.5 crore, and Rs. 2.5 crore from the rest of India.

With Vijay in the lead and Dutt as the main antagonist, the film also featured actors Trisha Krishnan and Arjun Sarja in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander joined as the film's music composer, while Haasan also had a special voice role. The out-and-out actioner, originally a Tamil language film, was dubbed and released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
