What's the story

Deepika Padukone created a buzz recently when she announced her next project on acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.

The actress will be essaying the role of Laxmi in her biopic, which will be helmed by Meghna Gulzar.

Fans are excited to see Deepika in this role and so is Laxmi, who believes that the 'Padmaavat' actress will give her best to the movie.

Laxmi is quite happy about Deepika playing her role in the movie.

"She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best," she stated.

Laxmi also thanked Meghna and Deepika for working on the movie and spreading awareness as it will encourage the acid attack victims to come out of the trauma.

Not just Laxmi, Deepika is also delighted to be a part of the project. In fact, she was so moved by the story that she chose to turn a producer for the biopic.

"When I heard this story, I was deeply moved as it's not just one of violence but of strength and courage, hope and victory," Deepika told Mumbai Mirror.
