Missing 'Taarak Mehta' actor was planning marriage amid financial woes
Gurucharan Singh, known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi in the hit Indian sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been missing for six days now. The 50-year-old actor was last seen in Delhi on April 22—the day he was scheduled to travel to Mumbai. As the police continued the investigation, it recently surfaced that the actor was on the verge of marriage and was grappling with financial challenges.
Singh was facing financial difficulties, was about to get married
Delhi Police initiated a kidnapping investigation following the missing report filed by Singh's father. So far, the probe has uncovered that Singh was facing financial difficulties and was on the verge of getting married, reported India Today. He had withdrawn approximately ₹7,000 from a Delhi ATM before his disappearance, stated reports. His last known location was in Palam—a neighborhood close to his home in Delhi—on April 24, after which his phone was switched off.
Singh was last seen at a traffic intersection in Palam
Further, CCTV footage from various locations in the national capital captured Singh crossing a street in Palam with a backpack on the night of his disappearance. "His flight was scheduled for 8:30pm on Monday, but he was seen at a traffic intersection in Palam at around 9:14pm," officials reported. The police are currently examining CCTV footage from around his residence and other areas of Delhi to piece together Singh's movements before he vanished.
His last social media post coincided with his disappearance
It's worth mentioning that Singh's last social media post was made six days ago, coinciding with his mysterious disappearance. It was a birthday wish for his father. Earlier reports also hinted at Singh's health concerns before his disappearance. Allegedly, the actor battled high blood pressure and struggled with maintaining a proper diet. He even underwent health check-ups in the days leading up to his disappearance.
Meanwhile, co-star Mandar Chandwadkar shared this
As the investigation progresses, Indian Express talked to Singh's co-star from TMKOC, Mandar Chandwadkar, who portrays Bhide in the show. He revealed that the actor frequently traveled between Delhi and Mumbai. Mandar recalled their last meeting in December, stating, "It's really surprising for me as well. He keeps traveling between Delhi and Mumbai. Last we met at Dilip Joshi's son's wedding in December...But since then we have not been in touch." "Just hoping and praying all is well."
