Wait is almost over!
HBO has finally announced the premiere date for the second season of its hit series, The Last of Us.
The new season will premiere on April 13, taking over the Sunday marquee time slot from The White Lotus, which premiered its first episode of Season 3 last Sunday (US time).
Along with the announcement, HBO also unveiled new character posters featuring Ellie (Bella Ramsey), Joel (Pedro Pascal), and Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).

'The Last of Us' S02 to continue 5 years later
The Last of Us's second season will pick up five years after the first season's events.
Characters Joel and Ellie (Pascal and Ramsey) will be at odds with each other in a world that is more dangerous and unpredictable than ever.
The returning cast includes Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, along with new additions like Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, etc.

Season details
Season 2 to feature 7 episodes
The upcoming season of The Last of Us will have a total of seven episodes, with the finale scheduled for late May. This is just the perfect timing for Emmy eligibility.
The series is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who co-created the video game series the show is based on.
Both Mazin and Druckmann have directed episodes of the show and will do so in Season 2.

Mazin's promise and Wright's return
Mazin has promised that every one of the seven episodes in Season 2 will be a "meal" and "high-calorie."
He told Entertainment Weekly, "Each episode is like a meal. You can have a light dinner or you can go to a 12-course French restaurant...They are high-calorie, dense episodes."
Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role as Isaac, the ruthless leader of the Washington Liberation.
Catherine O'Hara will also guest-star in an undisclosed role.
