Recently, other images from the sets surfaced, showcasing Lara Dutta adorned in traditional attire and elaborate gold jewelry, fueling speculation about her character. In an interview with Indian Express, Dutta addressed speculations about the possibility of her portraying Kaikeyi in the film.

Dutta expressed her interest in being part of the Ramayana project, stating, "Who wouldn't want to be part of Ramayana?" She stated, "I am leaving the rumors out there. I also like reading and hearing about them, so please continue." "There were so many characters I would have loved to play if it was offered to me—Surpanakha, Mandodari, I am playing them all (laughs)."

In Tiwari's version, Govil is rumored to take on the role of King Dasharatha.
