Lamar Odom gains consciousness, says 'Hi'
Former NBA star and Khloe Kardashian's ex Lamar Odom gained consciousness and was able to say "Hi" to his estranged wife. It was not clear whether Odom continued to remain conscious or for how long he was conscious. Odom's college coach, Jim Harrick said that Lamar's breathing tubes had been removed and that he was off kidney dialysis as well.
Who is Lamar Odom?
Lamar Odom played for 4 teams during his 14 season career. He won 2 NBA championships as a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Los Angeles Clippers drafted Odom in 1999 and he then signed with the Miami Heat. He then traded to the Lakers in 2009 and moved to Dallas Mavericks briefly before returning to the Clippers for one season.
Khloe and Odom: Marriage, divorce and after
Lamar Odom remained in the glare of media due to his marriage to Khloe Kardashian in 2009. The couple separated in 2013 and the divorce was finalized in July 2015. However, Odom has been associated with the Kardashian name; the couple even decided to showcase their relationship on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and another show "Khloe and Lamar", even after going different ways.
Odom's drug and alcohol addiction
Odom has had brushes with drugs before. In 2013, he was charged for drunk driving in Los Angeles, and he later went into a treatment center for drug and alcohol addiction.
Lamar Odom found unconscious in a brothel
Lamar Odom, the former N.B.A. forward was admitted to a medical facility after he was found unconscious in Nevada. Odom had been putting-up at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, since 4 days. He was found in a brothel "lying facedown" by two caretakers who had gone to check on him. Reports revealed that Odom was in a coma with vital organ damages.
Odom could not be fit into a helicopter
According to a statement from the Nye County Sheriff's Office, the paramedics had to drive Odom in an ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, as they were unable to fit his 6-foot-10 frame into a helicopter
Heavy on cocaine, sexual performance supplements
The release of the dramatic 911 call by the Nye County Sheriff's Department highlighted that Lamar Odom took "cocaine and as many as 10 sexual-performance supplement pills" immediately before his hospitalization in Las Vegas. Police said that the sexual-performance supplements that Odom took were legal. Detective Michael Eisenloffel scrutinising this case said he had not ruled out that "Odom's actions were a suicide attempt."
