'Lahore: 1947' set for Republic Day 2025 release: Report
We are not even halfway through 2024, but the release slots for 2025 are already getting blocked by major Bollywood producers. Among these, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has marked Valentine's Day and Eid of 2025 for the releases of Sanki and Sikandar, respectively. Now, per a Bollywood Hungama report, Aamir Khan-Rajkumar Santoshi-Sunny Deol's Lahore: 1947, is targeting the Republic Day weekend of the same year.

A source told BH, "The shooting of Lahore: 1947 is currently underway and the makers will wrap up the film by June 2024. It's a film shot in the studio set up with massive sets of the yesteryear era being recreated. There is minimal VFX, as more focus is on real drama and action." "Aamir and Rajkumar Santoshi feel that Republic Day weekend is the best time for the arrival of Lahore: 1947."
'Lahore: 1947' marks Deol's return and Khan's cameo
Lahore: 1947 is expected to mark the return of Deol to the big screen following his super-successful stint in Gadar 2. Additionally, Khan will be making a cameo appearance in the film, per reports. The source stated, "It's a patriotic film about a man's love for India, and what better than Republic Day for its arrival." This project is also significant as it marks the reunion of Santoshi with Deol after a considerable break.
The crew and supporting actors
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the film is an adaptation of Asghar Wajahat's play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai. The cast includes Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Abhimanyu Singh, and Mona Singh. Per reports, musical maestro AR Rahman is composing the film's music and background score, while Javed Akhtar has written the lyrics. Santosh Sivan serves as the director of photography.

Per Naatak, "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai ("One who has not seen Lahore has not been born") was written in the 1980s. Set in 1947, it is the story of a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allotted a haveli vacated by a departing Hindu family. Drama ensues when they find an old Hindu woman living in the haveli. Separately, Santoshi's credits include Andaz Apna Apna, Ghayal, and Damini, among others.
