Not Baisakhi, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' now targets Independence Day release
Aamir Khan fans would have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite star on celluloid. As per the latest announcement from Aamir Khan Productions (AKP), its ambitious venture Laal Singh Chaddha is no longer coming out on Baisakhi (April 14), but will now be an Independence Day week release. The Hindi remake of Forrest Gump will now hit theaters on August 11.
Why does this story matter?
Known to be Mr. Perfectionist, Khan has been diligently working on Laal Singh Chaddha since 2019. Playing the titular role, the Dhoom 3 actor has suffered various setbacks with respect to the shooting schedule. Originally set for December 25, 2020 release, the movie had to be moved back multiple times—sometimes to avoid clashes or, because of the pandemic. Now, it has received another blow.
Makers reveal reason behind delay in statement
Revealing the movie won't be meeting its Baisakhi release date, the statement added this was because they will not be able to finish Laal Singh Chaddha by then. "The film will now be releasing on August 11, 2022, in theatres worldwide," the note said. The team also thanked Adipurush makers for pushing their movie to facilitate the release of Laal Singh Chaddha.

April 14 is blocked by two mega-budgeters
Notably, Kannada superstar Yash's KGF 2 and Tamil superstar Vijay's Beast are slated to release on April 14. Khan presumably did not want a clash with both of these much-awaited mega-budgeters. Hence, the delay makes sense. However, even on August 11, Laal Singh Chaddha will not be a solo release. Akshay Kumar-led comedy drama Raksha Bandhan is also poised for a release that day.
