Krushna Abhishek to mimic uncle Govinda for the first time
The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 2 kicked off on Netflix on September 21, and it's packed with a star-studded lineup featuring Kapil Sharma, Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur, and Krushna Abhishek. In a recent chat with Zoom, Abhishek spilled the beans that he's stepping into new roles this season. One of these characters is none other than his real-life uncle and Bollywood legend Govinda—a role he's never taken on before!
Abhishek's learning journey and OTT transition
Abhishek, who's juggling three shows and a film shoot, opened up about what he's learned from each season of TGIKS. He pointed out that moving the show to an OTT platform brought its own set of challenges and chances to grow. "I think that first season our journey is very good," he said. "[Netflix ne] humko itna charge kar diya hai ke ab humme bhi responsibility hoti hai ke second season, we need to do it better."
Abhishek's comedy inspirations and upcoming roles
Abhishek shared that his uncle Govinda has been a significant source of inspiration for his comedy since childhood. He recalled accompanying him on shoots and watching Jim Carrey films together. "When I was a child, I used to go on shoots with my mama. And he used to watch all Jim Carrey films at that time," he said. "So, maine bhi bahut Jim Carrey films dekhi hai."
Abhishek and Sharda to portray Aladdin and Genie
In a teaser for an upcoming episode, Abhishek and co-star Sharda are seen playing Aladdin and the Genie. The episode will feature Kartik Aaryan promoting his film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. While promoting the new season of TGIKS, fans have been questioning why each season only consists of 13 episodes. To this, he responded, "TV nahin hai, Netflix hai, they have a system. They can't do 100 episodes."
