#MeToo: Kriti Sanon's Instagram post casts doubt on anonymous victims
Bollywood's #MeToo movement has been gaining a lot of momentum. Notably, several women have shown the courage to call out their harassers. However, many have chosen anonymity while exposing the big shots which in turn has 'raised a doubt' over their claims. Expressing her concern over the same, actress Kriti Sanon has urged women to reveal their identities.
Kriti supports #MeToo, lauds women for speaking up
In an Instagram post, Kriti has extended her support to the ongoing #MeToo movement. She lauded the courage of every woman who came forward to share her ordeal and said, "Hats off to the ones who have spoken up". She further added that the movement has ignited a fear of being caught and it was much needed in the industry.
Make sure the movement is not diluted: Kriti
Kriti also emphasized that the movement should not be diluted by 'anonymity'. She added that the anonymous claims often lack authenticity and it isn't fair to call someone guilty when the story doesn't come with a victim's name. "It's important that we carry the #MeToo movement responsibly and find a legal way for an enduring effect," Kriti added.
Kriti Sanon's message on #MeToo
Dear Kriti, it's their story and their choice
While Kriti, like all of us, is entitled to an opinion, her dismissal of all anonymous accounts is absurd. The actress fails to understand it is the survivor's story and speaking with or without revealing the identity, is entirely their prerogative. This should be respected.
