'Khel Khel Mein' fails to score; crosses ₹25cr in 14-days
Akshay Kumar's latest comedy-drama, Khel Khel Mein, has failed to impress audiences and generate significant box office revenue. The film, directed by Mudassar Aziz and featuring a star-studded cast including Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal, has only managed to collect ₹25.45 crore after two weeks in theaters.
'Khel Khel Mein' day-wise box office performance
Khel Khel Mein opened with a collection of ₹5.05 crore on its first day, but the numbers quickly dropped to ₹2.05 crore on the second day. The film's earnings remained inconsistent throughout its two-week run, with the lowest daily collection recorded at ₹0.65 crore on its 14th day. The total box office collection for Khel Khel Mein stands at a disappointing ₹25.45 crore.
Competition from 'Stree 2'
The underwhelming performance of Khel Khel Mein can be partly attributed to the success of Stree 2, which was released on the same day. The horror-comedy sequel has been a hit with audiences, leading many cinema halls to replace Khel Khel Mein's shows with Stree 2. This move has reportedly resulted in a loss of about 30% of the shows for Khel Khel Mein.
Kumar responds to criticism
In response to the film's poor performance and the criticism he has received, lead star Kumar told Pinkvilla, "Whatever people say, we have to try and understand. But at the same time, I will not give up doing different kinds of cinema also. Because sometimes I feel I have to give the audience what I feel they want."
