Kevin Hart confirms he will not host Oscars 2019

    What's the story

Kevin Hart has put all speculations to bed regarding him hosting the 2019 Oscars.

After the Ride Along star was initially selected to host the award ceremony, he expressed great enthusiasm.

However, controversy soon followed when old jokes resurfaced about the comedian poking fun at the LGBTQ community. Amid this controversy, Hart stepped down and it seems he is not returning.

    Here's why.

    Reply

Hart gives an emphatic 'no' to role of Oscars host

Hart appeared on talk show Good Morning America to promote his film, The Upside.

When he was asked if the star would be the emcee at the upcoming Oscars, he replied with an emphatic 'no'.

Not only did he refuse to return as host, but also stressed that he did not have adequate time to work on the Oscars before the February air date.

    Over it

Hart says he is over the Oscars controversy

Hart is not only washing his hands of the role of being the emcee but also claims that he is over the Oscars controversy.

"There's no more conversation about it," Hart said, while refusing to give any explanation and added, "I'm over that, I'm over the moment."

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star ended by saying "I'm a good person. I love to love."

    Quote

'I'm not giving no more explanation of who I am'

Hart said, "I'm not giving no more explanation of who I am. If you didn't [hear the apology], I don't know what you're looking for. I'm a good person, I love to love, if you don't see that then it's a problem with you".

    Opinion

Ellen DeGeneres' pleas in vain, Oscars might be without host

Hart's emphatic refusal comes despite the urging from his friend, Ellen DeGeneres who said the Oscars were ready to take Hart back as a host, as we had reported.

However, as things stand now, 2019 Oscars might do away with a host completely for the first time, and instead opt to have a roster of celebrities to guide the viewers throughout the award ceremony.
