Hart appeared on talk show Good Morning America to promote his film, The Upside. When he was asked if the star would be the emcee at the upcoming Oscars, he replied with an emphatic 'no'. Not only did he refuse to return as host, but also stressed that he did not have adequate time to work on the Oscars before the February air date.

Hart is not only washing his hands of the role of being the emcee but also claims that he is over the Oscars controversy. "There's no more conversation about it," Hart said, while refusing to give any explanation and added, "I'm over that, I'm over the moment."
