Kesha and Reneé Rapp deliver modified 'Tik Tok' at Coachella
In an unexpected turn of events at the renowned Coachella Music and Arts Festival, pop star Kesha joined Reneé Rapp on stage for a mid-afternoon performance. The duo surprised fans with a revamped version of Kesha's 2010 hit song Tik Tok. The lyrics were notably altered, replacing the original line "Wake up in the morning feelin' like P. Diddy" with "Wake up in the morning like F_** P. Diddy," amid ongoing allegations against Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.
About Rapp's star-studded Coachella performance
Rapp, who was performing at a popular venue within the festival, introduced Kesha to the audience with high praise: "Ladies and gentlemen, this, I think, is the hottest person on earth. Everybody put your f***ing hands together for Kesha." The event also saw appearances from The L Word cast members Leisha Hailey, Katherine Moennig, Jennifer Beals, and Ilene Chaiken who were present to introduce Rapp.
Coachella festival abuzz with unexpected musical collaborations
The festival was filled with unexpected musical collaborations throughout the weekend. Towa Bird, who opened for Rapp during her recent tour, joined her on stage for a performance of Tummy Hurts. Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo made an unanticipated appearance during No Doubt's set to perform their 2000 hit Bathwater. In another surprise, Shakira took to the stage during Bizarrap's set to perform their collaborative hit Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, and announced her forthcoming world tour.
Kesha's history of modifying 'Tik Tok' lyrics
This isn't the first time Kesha has altered the lyrics of Tik Tok. During a concert in Los Angeles on her Only Love tour last November, she omitted Diddy's name from the song, singing, "Wake up in the morning feeling just like me." The performance took place a day after Cassandra Ventura settled a lawsuit against Combs, alleging years of physical and sexual abuse. Combs has been involved in multiple lawsuits concerning allegations of assault, gang rape, and sex trafficking.
All about the sex trafficking probe involving Combs
In March, federal agencies searched the properties of Combs in Miami and Los Angeles regarding sex trafficking allegations against him. The operation was confirmed by a spokesperson for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Reacting to the raids, Combs's lawyer, Aaron Dyer called the raids an "unprecedented ambush" and a "witch hunt."
