Why Kartik Aaryan rejected Vishal Bhardwaj's gangster film
Earlier this week, it was announced that Sajid Nadiadwala will bankroll Shahid Kapoor's next project, to be helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. This led to the speculation that this is the same project that was initially offered to Kartik Aaryan. Now, a report by Times Now suggests that Aaryan was not replaced by Kapoor, but instead, turned down Bhardwaj's film.
Aaryan declined gangster role in Bhardwaj's film
A source told TN that Aaryan was offered a role in Bhardwaj's gangster film, Don Hussain Ustara, produced by Nadiadwala. Aaryan, who has worked with Nadiadwala on Chandu Champion and Satyaprem Ki Katha, was initially interested. "However, when Kartik heard the script it turned out to be one more gangster gaatha tale." "At this point of his career, Kartik would rather not do negative characters unless it's something completely unexpected like Freddy."
Aaryan's previous script rejection and upcoming films
This isn't the first time Aaryan has declined a script that didn't resonate with him. Previously, he had reportedly requested changes to the script of Dostana 2, which led to a temporary fallout with filmmaker Karan Johar. The project was eventually shelved. On the work front, Aaryan is awaiting the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and has an untitled project with Anurag Basu in his pipeline.
