Pakistan bans 'Veere Di Wedding' citing vulgar content
Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja starrer 'Veere Di Wedding', which is not a chick flick, will not be released in Pakistan. Raising objections over vulgar dialogues and obscene scenes in the film, the members of Pakistan's Central Board for Film Censors have banned it from releasing in their country. Here's more.
Here's what the Pakistani censor board was quoted as saying
"Veere Di Wedding was screened before the full board and all members were surprised to see such content being displayed. The film is unacceptable due to its vulgarity and sexual content in the dialogues spoken by the four girls," the neighboring country's board said.
"It is a film about friendship"
Swara Bhaskar, who plays one of the four friends, recently opened up about the criticism that the film has been receiving due to its content. "Veere is not about four young women drinking or using cuss words. I think the criticism is misplaced because this film is about their friendship and their choices. We are only depicting the young urban Indian women," she said.
