Kareena Kapoor opens up on her equation with Amrita Singh
Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan 6 concluded yesterday with the much-awaited episode featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra. The show witnessed the divas being at their candid best as they talked about their personal lives like never before. During the interview, Kareena also opened up about her equation with Saif Ali Khan's ex-wife Amrita Singh, which left everyone stunned. Here's what she said.
Saif had ended his 13-year-long marriage with Amrita in 2004
For the uninitiated, Saif broke Bollywood stereotypes when he married Amrita, who was 13 years older than him, in 1991. The couple had two children, Sara and Ibrahim. However, their 13-year long marriage didn't work and the couple divorced in 2004. Later, Saif dated Italian model Rosa Catalano for a while, eventually marrying Kareena Kapoor in 2012, after a courtship of five years.
Kareena and Amrita 'never met'
After Saif's second wedding, there were rampant speculations about Kareena-Amrita's equation. While many surmised that the two were at loggerheads, Kareena dismissed the reports and said that she has utmost respect for Amrita. On Koffee With Karan 6, Kareena stated, "We've never met. I met Saif many years after he got divorced. So, it was not on anyone's time. He was clearly single."
'My mom (Amrita) dressed me for my father's wedding'
Though Kareena and Amrita have never met, Sara and Ibrahim attended Saif and Kareena's wedding. Talking about the same, Sara once revealed that it was her mother Amrita who dressed her for the occasion. "My mom dressed me for my father's wedding. Many people would be of the opinion that mom was being weird. It was very comfortable. Everyone was so mature," she said.
I am meant to be Sara, Ibrahim's friend, Kareena maintains
On the other hand, Kareena, who shares a great bond with Sara and Ibrahim, lauded Amrita for bringing up the kids in an amazing manner. The actress also admitted she can never be a mother to the duo. "I can never be their mother because they already have an amazing mother who's brought them up spectacularly. I'm meant to be their friend," Kareena added.
