Kareena Kapoor responds to court notice over 'Pregnancy Bible' title
Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has finally responded to a legal notice she received in May over the title of her book, Kareena Kapoor Khan's Pregnancy Bible. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had issued the notice on a petition filed by advocate Christopher Anthony seeking a ban on the book's sale. In her response, Kapoor Khan said she had no intention of hurting any religious sentiments.
Her lawyer says 'Pregnancy Bible' her 'third child'
Kapoor Khan's lawyer, Divya Krishna Billaiya, said that the actor's book Pregnancy Bible was not intended to hurt anyone's religious sentiments. The MP High Court has scheduled a hearing by Justice GS Ahluwalia on the matter on September 10. The 43-year-old actor submitted her reply, objecting to the ban on the sale of the book. She called Pregnancy Bible her "third child."
Activist said 'Pregnancy Bible' title hurtful to Christians
Earlier, Anthony—a social activist from Jabalpur—had stated that the word "Bible" is hurtful to the sentiments of the Christian community. "The Bible is the holy book of Christianity and it is wrong to compare Kapoor Khan's pregnancy with the Bible." However, his request was rejected after the court found that his petition did not demonstrate how the use of the word "Bible" in the title was offensive. He then appealed to the Additional Sessions Court, which also dismissed his petition.
Previous legal actions against Kapoor Khan on the contentious title
Meanwhile, in 2021, a Christian organization raised concerns about the title, prompting a police complaint in Beed, Maharashtra, against the actor and two others for allegedly offending religious sentiments. To note, Kapoor and her actor spouse Saif Ali Khan welcomed their son Jeh in February 2021, following their marriage in 2012. Their eldest child, Taimur Ali Khan, was born in 2016. On the work front, Kapoor Khan will be seen next in Singham Again and The Buckingham Murders.
