Famous Bollywood director Karan Johar recently revealed that a "famous actress" was cheated off ₹82,000 by online fraudsters on Instagram.
The shocking revelation was made during a segment of the Con-versation Podcast, which has since gone viral on social media.
"I know someone close to me who got scammed," he said. "I can't mention her name, she won't like it."

Johar explained that the actor was lured by an advertisement for a limited edition designer ensemble on Instagram.
The outfit, originally priced at ₹4.5L, was being offered at a significantly reduced price of ₹82,000.
"She thought, 'Wow, what a deal.' She DMed them and they immediately responded," he said.
After receiving detailed pictures of the gown from the scammers, she sent the money through her UPI ID but never received her purchase.

Social media users speculated about the actor's identity
After Johar's revelation, social media users started guessing the name of the scammed star. Some threw in names like Kiara Advani or Alia Bhatt, while others thought it could be Kajol.
However, many users also doubted Johar's story, hinting it could be a scripted ad campaign.
