Karan Johar, the head of Dharma Productions, is reportedly planning to sell a majority stake in his production house. According to Bollywood Hungama, citing a report by Exchange4Media, the producer-director has approached some of India's largest corporations for investment. The potential investors are believed to be top business houses based in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. A music company is also among the frontrunners, reportedly.

Amid talks of seeking investors, Dharma Productions's financial performance has come under scrutiny. The leading production house's financial data reveals a decrease in post-tax profit from ₹27.1cr in FY (financial year) 2022-23 to ₹10.70cr in FY 2023-24. However, the total revenue for FY23 significantly increased to ₹1,044cr from ₹278cr in FY22. The company's borrowings amounted to ₹82cr in FY23—slightly less than the previous year's total of ₹92cr.

On the other hand, Dharma Productions has a busy pipeline for 2024. In the first half of the year, it released four films, including Yodha, Mr & Mrs Mahi, Kill, and Bad Newz. Two more films, Jigra and Dhadak 2, are scheduled for release in October and November respectively. Devara, a film presented by Dharma Productions featuring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor, is also set to hit the screens this year.
