KJo announces next directorial 'Takht' and the star-cast is mind-blowing
On Thursday morning, Karan Johar made a big announcement. He will be directing 'Takht', a multi-starrer featuring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal and Jhanvi Kapoor. The multi-starrer magnum opus will release in 2020. This will be KJo's next directorial after 2016 release 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. Expectations from this one are obviously high.
What we learned about 'Takht' from KJo's tweets
The ace director revealed 'Takht' is set in the Mughal era. The movie focuses on the battle for the throne. KJo tweeted, "A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession... TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE."
Here is the announcement of the magnum opus
KJo is making multi-starrer and big-budget movies 'cool again'
The movies which Dharma has traditionally announced are big on budget and stars. The stellar cast will ensure fans flock to theaters. 'Brahmastra' brings Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan together for the first time, and 'Kalank' too has an equally promising cast. It features Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonakshi Sinha. Notably, Alia has become a Dharma-regular.
It doesn't get bigger than this
No one other than KJo could have done the mammoth task of bringing so many actors, all enjoying a huge fan-following, together. And the actors also have a connection. Ranveer and Alia have already worked in 'Gully Boy', Ranveer and Anil starred in 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and Vicky Kaushal and Alia stunned in 'Raazi'. Moreover, Alia is a self-proclaimed Kareena fan.
Moving from actors, KJo thanks writers, sets new precedence
While it is easier for everyone to be swept away by the cast, KJo ensured he gave credit where it was due. In a tweet, KJo thanked the writers. Can you remember the last time Bollywood did so? The screenplay is written by Sumit Roy, and dialogues by Hussain Haidry (you might remember him from the viral Hindustan Ka Musalmaan poem) and Roy.
