Kapil Sharma gets emotional while talking about his alcohol addiction
Kapil Sharma, who has a knack of hitting headlines, won hearts after he joined Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Drug Free India campaign. The comedian recently participated in an event held in Chandigarh. During the event, Kapil was candid about his battle with alcoholism and got emotional recalling the 'most difficult' time of his life. Here's more on what he said.
Kapil was 'consumed' by bottle, saw 'his mother break down'
For the uninitiated, Kapil was addicted to alcohol since long, which sabotaged not only his personal but also professional life. The comedian, who was on top of his game then, witnessed a quick downfall courtesy alcoholism. Recalling this, Kapil revealed, "how he was consumed by the bottle. He recalled seeing his mother break down. That's when he decided to kick out the habit."
Kapil even assaulted Sunil Grover under alcohol's influence
Kapil's alcohol addiction came to light after he assaulted his then co-star Sunil Grover mid-air in 2016. It was reported that Kapil, who was heavily drunk during the flight, also misbehaved with some of his team members. When Sunil intervened to resolve the matter, Kapil ended up manhandling him. Upset with the incident, Sunil even walked out of The Kapil Sharma Show back then.
Kapil's addiction with the bottle also ruined his career
Kapil's behavior changed and unprofessionalism became his routine, which eventually took a toll on his career. He tried to quit the addiction back then, but it wasn't easy. "When a man is upset, you lose the perspective of thinking what should be done," he added.
Kapil taking help from Ayurvedic rehab clinic to recover
But as the quote, where there's a will there's a way, stands, Kapil too fought his way out and finally overcame alcoholism. He is now on the path of healing, and has taken help of an Ayurvedic rehab clinic to recover. In this fight, Ginni Chatrath, his wife, has emerged as his biggest pillar of strength helping Kapil get back at his game.
Meanwhile, Kapil made a grand comeback on TV last December
Last December, Kapil made a grand comeback on small screen with The Kapil Sharma Show. The show witnessed a massive opening and Kapil proved that he is here to say. Interestingly, TKSS also marked Kapil's reunion with his old friends Bharti Singh, Chandan Prabhakar, and once arch-rival Krushna Abhishek. The show also features Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kiku Sharda and Sumona Chakravarti.
