'Emergency' release postponed due to Kangana Ranaut's political commitments
The much-anticipated Hindi film Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut, has experienced yet another delay in its release due to the actor's ongoing political commitments. The production company, Manikarnika Films, announced the postponement on their social media platforms on Wednesday. They stated, "Our hearts are filled with love pouring in for our queen Kangana Ranaut. As she prioritizes her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much-awaited film Emergency has been postponed."
Here's what the production house posted
'Emergency' release history: Initial date and previous postponement
Originally, Emergency was set to premiere on November 24, 2023. However, changes in Ranaut's calendar led to the film being rescheduled for a June 14 release. This announcement was made by Ranaut after attending the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya earlier this year. This marks the second time that the film's release has been delayed due to Ranaut's commitments outside of her acting career. A new release date is awaited.
'Emergency': Genre and supporting cast of the film
Emergency is a biographical drama that revolves around the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with Ranaut playing the titular role. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik, possibly in his last role. Notably, Emergency is both directed and written by Ranaut. Previously, she co-directed and headlined the 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
Ranaut's political journey: From BJP supporter to BJP candidate
Ranaut is currently actively campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Himachal Pradesh's Mandi seat. After filing her nomination papers on Tuesday, she stated, "Today I have filed nomination from Mandi LS seat. It is a matter of pride for me to have the opportunity to contest from Mandi... I have been successful in Bollywood and I am hopeful that I will get success in the field of politics as well."
