On her birthday, Kangana announces her next, a Jayalalithaa biopic
After basking in the tremendous success of her period film, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut finally announced her next project. Reportedly, the diva will be seen essaying the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in her biopic titled Jaya. Interestingly, the announcement was made on the eve of her 32nd birthday, which falls today. Here's more on this.
Jayalalithaa's biopic to be released in Hindi and Tamil
As per media reports, Jayalalithaa's biopic will be a bilingual movie that will be released in Hindi and Tamil. While the Hindi version of the movie is titled as Jaya, the Tamil version will be called Thalaivi, which means revolutionary leader. The much-anticipated movie will be helmed by Tamil filmmaker AL Vijay, who is known for movies like Madrasapattinam, Thaandavam and Deiva Thirumagal.
Vijay praises Kangana, calls her 'one of India's biggest star'
Citing it is as a big opportunity, Vijay is ecstatic about the Jayalalithaa biopic. He's also elated to work with Kangana and lauded her acting prowess. "Making a film on Jayalalithaa's life is a big responsibility. Am proud and happy with our association with one of India's biggest star, Kangana Ranaut, to portray the dynamic role of a dynamic leading," Vijay added.
Kangana is 'honored to be a part of this project'
Meanwhile, the lady in focus, Kangana is also looking forward to working on this big project. In fact, she can't stop gushing about the movie and the late politician. "Jayalalithaa Ji was a superstar and went on to become an iconic politician. It's a great concept for a mainstream film. I am honored to be a part of this project," Kangana was quoted saying.
Makers have obtained NOC, Jayalalithaa biopic to hit floors soon
Notably, the movie will focus on Jayalalithaa's glorious journey and her popularity. The 68-year-old was a superstar-turned-politician and breathed her last on December 5, 2016. Reportedly, the makers have also obtained a NOC from Jayalalithaa's nephew for the biopic. In fact, the research work on the movie has been on for past 9 months and the biopic is likely to hit the floors soon.
Kangana busy with 'Mental Hai Kya,' opposite Rajkummar Rao
Meanwhile, Kangana is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film, Mental Hai Kya, opposite Rajkummar Rao. The movie is said to revolve around the complicated relationship of an ex-couple and deals with the sensitive topic of mental health. Mental Hai Kya is expected to release in May this year. Besides, Kangana is also planning to direct her own biopic.
