'Manikarnika' box office report: Kangana's movie gets much-needed boost
Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is doing wonders at the box office. The movie, which was released amid controversies and protests, has managed to impress the audience. In fact, Kangana's performance was unanimously hailed by critics and audience. After getting a slow start at the box office, the historical drama witnessed massive growth on the second day. Here's the breakdown.
'Manikarnika' emerges victorious on day 2
Despite getting rave reviews from the audience, Manikarnika initially witnessed a dull start with the first-day collection of Rs. 8.75 crore. However, the Republic Day weekend gave a much-required boost to Manikarnika and doubled its collection. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Manikarnika sees remarkable growth on Day 2. Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 18.10 cr. Total: Rs. 26.85 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu".
Word of mouth does wonders for 'Manikarnika'
The movie narrates the story of Rani Laxmibai who fought against the East India Company in 1857 to protect her kingdom. Undoubtedly, Kangana won hearts with her exemplary portrayal of the warrior queen. And the audience's love for Manikarnika is evident through the box office numbers. Besides, positive word of mouth is also playing its role in making the cash registers jingle for Manikarnika.
Opening weekend to have monstrous numbers
Given the incredible growth on the second day, trade pandits have predicted a monstrous growth in Manikarnika's collections on the third day. In fact, according to Adarsh, the third-day numbers are also expected to be in double digits. If the predictions turn out to be true, Manikarnika will have a stupendous opening weekend.
'Manikarnika' beats 'Thackeray' at the box office
Interestingly, Kangana's Manikarnika witnessed a box office clash with Nawazuddin Siddiqui's much-anticipated Thackeray. Given the patriotic touch in Manikarnika, the historical drama managed to have an upper hand at the box office. However, Thackeray is also giving a tough competition to Manikarnika. In fact, Thackeray witnessed an upward trend on the second day and stands at a collection of Rs. 16 crore.
Separately, Krish slams Kangana for taking directorial credits
Separately, Manikarnika co-director Krish slammed Kangana for taking directorial credits. Krish alleged that Kangana wanted everything for herself and wished to change the script. He also claimed that he had finished his edits in June 2018. However, Kangana replaced Krish as the director and re-shot 70 percent of the movie. We wonder what Kangana has to say in her defense now.
