Ranaut compares Gandhi's life to a Shakespearean tragedy
Ranaut, who has also donned the director's hat for her forthcoming film, recently drew parallels between Gandhi's life and a Shakespearean tragedy in an interview with Variety. She said, "Her life was such a Shakespearean tragedy. It's not for us to judge or evaluate. It is what it is." She added that the film presents an honest perspective on the Emergency, its causes, and its aftermath.
'Emergency' release delayed due to Ranaut's election campaign
The release of Emergency—initially set for June—was delayed due to Ranaut's involvement in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Following her victory, she announced the new release date along with a film poster. The movie is co-produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films under the banners Manikarnika Films and EaseMyTrip. The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Ritesh Shah, with music composed by Sanchit Balhara.
